Frequently Asked Questions

We have compiled our most commonly asked questions to provide you with all the information you need to make an informed decision before choosing our service.

  • Does an electrical system need routine maintenance?

Many people do not realise that their electrical systems will function better with ongoing maintenance and inspections. Like any other system at your home, your electrical system will last longer if you have someone come and give it a look—preferably at least once a year.

Although there are no moving parts in wiring, that doesn’t mean components can’t come loose or be prone to damage over time. In fact, loosened connections and damage due to moisture in your walls are two of the main causes of failure. Both of these can be prevented with ongoing maintenance.

  • Why is my power out?

A power outage can be a frustrating event, and how to get the power back on is one of the most popular questions we receive. The first step is to make sure the power outage is isolated to your home. If neighbours are also experiencing outages, then the problem lies outside of your electrical system.

If you have a faulty breaker, you could lose power even if nothing has been tripped. A clue that this is the case is if you lose power throughout your entire house instead of an isolated room or section. If no breakers have been tripped and the outage is due to an issue within your electrical system, give us a call and we’ll be happy to fix your problem.

  • When is it worth it to repair an appliance?

The cost of a new refrigerator, dryer, dishwasher, oven, air conditioner or any other major appliance can be thousands of dollars. So, in many cases it is worth to attempt a repair first. This is especially true if the item is less than ten years old. In some cases, however, it might be time to get a replacement. For instance, products over 10-15 years old (depending on the appliance) or one that keeps breaking down time and again may need to be replaced instead of repeated repairs.

  • Do solar panels need maintenance?

It is possible that your solar panels will lose effectiveness over time without proper maintenance. Not only do the inverters occasionally need to be rebooted, but you may lose power capabilities if the panels become dirty. A routine inspection and cleaning will ensure they are able to absorb all the energy you need.
